Canada Day!
Well, that was a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. Friday was Kendo, followed by a BBQ hosted by Luke and Ron. I can't wait to have a place with Andy that we can do stuff like that... yay!
Saturday we... hmmmm... what did we do on Saturday? Oh, we had breakfast with my parents early in the morning (around 9am) at Cora's... I ended up paying, but since I got my paycheck the day before, that wasn't a big sacrifice (although I may be singing a different tune by the end of the month!). After that... well, I don't think we did much terribly interesting. The original plan was to go to see Andy's friend Michelle near Sarnia, maybe go to a park... but Andy wasn't feeling up to it. We did, however, purchase Carcasonne for the Xbox 360... brilliant little game, that. Andy's quite good at it! Oh, and we went to the Covent Market in town... bought veggies and lamb. Gotta remember that when I'm roasting veggies, I have to roast the potatoes and onions first, and then add the rest afterwards!
And then Sunday... hmmm... well, I remember going to William's on Sunday and doing some drawing (still just training stuff... yesterday I finished the front view of the skull and the profile of the muscle afterwards... was definitely nice to be drawing again!), and we made coleslaw that we saw on the Food Network (it was okay, but I didn't have any red wine vinegar so we used balsamic... but balsamic isn't nearly as acidic as red wine vinegar, so the results were good but still not quite perfect).
And then yesterday... Kendo! We got up around 6, picked up Jae, and drove to Toronto... arrived around 8:40 (Andy made good time!), and then from 9am until 4:30 had a non-stop Kendo class! Well, we stopped for an hour for lunch, but other than that... it was about 6.5 hours of straight Kendo practice! It was awesome! Of course, I'm as sore as as hell today... Kamata-sensei (Junior) tsuki'd me and missed, so I have a toonie-sized bruise just right of my throat, as well as a nice one from Ma-sensei (who, in all honesty, isn't terribly good... I mean, better than me, but his sense of semei is awful... he's always too close!) when he hit a do too high. I managed to practice with 4 of the sensei, though... Kamata-sensei (senior) and Kamata-sensei (junior), Tanaka-sensei, and Ma-sensei.
I have to remember to work on my Kirikishi... something about how high I raise my arms (namely, not high enough). I'll ask Mori-sensei on Friday.
Anyways, Andy spent the day with Elizabeth (to whom I am very grateful... I was worried Andy would be lonely or bored!), and then afterwards we came home (exhausted, both), ate dinner and played some vids. Good times!
